Updates & USB ports - portable hard drive

Hello, excuse me for speaking in English, I hope you can understand!

I have a Loewe Individual 3D Compose 400DR+ 50431 B34

I have just got it and am learning the Loewe system!

I have a few questions, perhaps you will be kind enough to help?:-

1) I understand that it will update its software automatically when connected to the internet, is that right?
2) Is this model of capable of playing movies from a USB portable hard drive, when i plugged it in i could not see it anywhere on the TV? My Samsung recognises it automatically and plays from it.

1) der TV updated nicht automatisch, er weist dich aber auf aktuelle Software hin und fragt wie du damit umgehen willst.
2) dein Individual ist ja schon ein paar Jahre alt. Damals konnten die Geräte nur sehr begrenzt Medien am USB abspielen.

Please could you tell me how I know if I have the latest software installed?

In order to check the actual software press MEDIA, go to INDEX and then INTEGRATED FEATURES.

Your TV set should be able to play movies, music and pictures from USB, but there's no 'autostart' feature.
Press MEDIA and choose MEDIAHOME instead, your USB drive should be listed there (if recognized).

Here's an overview of files/formats supported (taken from the user manual that you can find HERE).

File formats supported
Pictures: JPG, PNG, GIF
Audio: MP3, M4A (AAC LC), WMA (without lossless), FLAC, WAV (PCM)
Video: AVI (MPEG-1/2, DivX, XviD, AC3, MP3), WMV (WMV9, VC-1,
WMA9, WMA Pro), MP4 (DivX, XviD, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC
LC), MOV (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, AAC LC), MKV (H.264/MPEG-4
AVC, AC3), FLV (H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, H.263, MP3, AAC LC),
MPG (MPEG-1, MPEG Audio), TS/PS (MPEG-2, H.264/MPEG-4
AVC, MPEG2 Audio, AC3), VOB (MPEG-2, MPEG2 Audio, AC3)
➠ DivX up to a resolution of 720p
➠ H.264/MPEG-4 AVC up to Profile High (Level 4.2)

I am now updating the software from v7.9 to the latest one the Loewe people have sent me, 8.4 I think

Hello, I have 8.46 update, how do I get the latest one? I tried to search on the TV but it doesn't find it?
